Mountain Spirit Winery

Mountain Spirit Winery opened in 1995 and is a family-owned and operated boutique winery nestled in the high country of the Upper Arkansas River Valley. We produce premium wines on five acres of farmland with apple orchards and an old homestead, surrounded by 14,000-foot mountain vistas. The grapes are trucked in after being freshly picked from the Western Slope vineyards of Colorado.

Co-vintners Terry and Michael Barkett bring state of the art equipment and educational backgrounds of clinical medicine and computer science to Mountain Spirit’s winemaking. This winery is trying to answer the question: “Everyone has a Merlot and Chardonnay. Do you have anything different to offer?” We continue to explore new blends of wines while maintaining high standards inherent to the gentle art of winemaking, which gives rise to our motto:

“Quality wines with a difference.”

Due to the overwhelming popularity of Mountain Spirit Wines they are only available to the public through the website, directly from the winery or gallery, or the Twisted Cork Cafe in Salida.

In 1978, Mountain View Winery was established in Morgan Hill, California. Spectacular vineyards were chosen from various regions throughout California. From its inception, Mountain View Winery has produced wines of superior quality. Our vineyards are located in regions that offer strong varietal character due to exceptional weather/climate/soil conditions, including Monterey, Amador, Napa, Sonoma and the Central Coast.   More than thirty-five years since its inception, Mountain View Winery continues to offer some of the finest California wines on the market.
