Festival Was Huge Success

Thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, wineries, vendors 1 Volunteers
and attendees we had a super fun and successful festival this year! Over 1,100 people attended this fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Teller County.

It was a perfect weather day too. After nine days of rain, the sun came out and stayed out. Temperatures climbed into the low 70s and a light wind kept everyone comfortable.

The new venue at Woodland Station seemed to draw in more last-minute attendees. In previous years, the Vino & Notes Festival was held at Memorial Park. A move was necessary because of planned renovations at the park. Many people passing by on their way to other places noticed the festival and decided to come join the fun.

There were nearly 50 booths to visit, including 18 Colorado wineries offering a variety of wines for sampling and selling, 19 general vendors displaying everything from jewelry to specialty foods to fireplace mantels, two musical groups, and six different wine-food pairing demonstrations.

Everyone had a great time and we’re already looking forward to next year! Friend Rod Dion on Facebook and check out the album Vino & Notes 2014 for another 151 pictures of this fun-filled day.

Wine Food Pairing Booth

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve recently posted the menus and Wine Food
wineries who will be participating in our Wine-Food Pairing Booth. It’s a new feature at our festival and we hope you like it. We will be offering hourly demonstrations where you can learn how to pair Colorado wines with a variety of menus. Here’s the fun part, you’ll also get to sample the combinations.

Here’s the lineup:

1pm — Wild Wings n’ Things will offer Teriyaki chicken wings. Varaison Vineyards will suggest a wine. Also, Shining Mountain Golf Club and Mountain Spirit Winery will pair up over Thai bites.

2pm — Carmen’s will showcase their beef mushroom medallion. Avanti Winery and Catriona Cellars will suggest complementary wines.

3pm — Mangia Mangia will prepare an Italian Extravaganza. Ten Bears Winery and Spero Winery will recommend the right reds.

4pm — Swiss Chalet will present their smoked salmon and scalloped puffed pastry. Aspen Peak Cellars and the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey will recommend a couple of whites.

5pm — Wildwood Casino will feature a smoked salmon pinwheel with herbed cream cheese on a toasted crostini. Kingman Estates Winery will propose the right wine.

Also, we’re still looking for a few volunteers who might be willing to help us at the festival in exchange for a free pass. Specifically we need help at the gate to take tickets, hand out the free wine glasses and tote bags, greet attendees and help with security. You can choose from one of two shifts:

>Early shift from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
>Late shift from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Give us a call at 719-687-4447 if you’d like to help.
See you Saturday!
